About the Book
"Rubbert" is the life story of Bob Rubbert, horseman and farmer who grew up on a cattle ranch in the central valley of California between the 1930s and the 1950s. The book starts with long ago photos from nearly forgotten family albums combined with modern day digital photography to reveal Bob's life as a young boy. It continues through his adult years as a community 4-H leader, cowboy and quarter horse breeder and concludes with photos and reflections as a present day retired great-grandfather.
Bob is a beloved father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and 4-H Horse Group leader. For those who knew him, he had a significant positive influence on the lives of dozens of 4-H youngsters and their families. He also raised countless registered quarter horses turning them into working ranch stock or pleasure animals. The book includes many photos and touching stories contributed by 4-H members, their families, neighbors and others. They describe the important life lessons Bob taught them while learning how to better communicate with their horses.
The book concludes with many thoughtful and heartwarming letters from Bob's own children and other family members expressing gratitude, appreciation and love for this unique horseman from California.
"Rubbert" is almost certainly guaranteed to put a tear in your eye, a lump in your throat and a smile on your face as you turn it's pages. - Rick Raef / Working Ranch Photography.
