About the Book
From Rhea Vedro’s most recent work Center, 2017, to her Prison Series, 2005, a variety of metals, processes, and techniques are used to create her mystical sculptures. Although her finished works transform steel into a more ambiguous form and material, this exhibition allows us to take a closer look at Vedro’s practice as a blacksmith and artist who is interested in surface textures and patinas. This show not only gives us a chance to admire her monumental works of art, but also gives us the opportunity to gain a better understanding of her artistic practice and processes and a glimpse of her world.
FERREIRA: Blacksmith as Witness, The Work of Rhea Vedro encapsulates what it means to be a female blacksmith in the twenty-first century and how her work has changed over time.
