About the Book
My first trip outside of Britain or Ireland had been
a visit to Milan in 1981. On this, and subsequent holidays, photography was a major activity that I indulged in. The title of this book indicates where my travel photography began and the fact that the idea for the book originated during a visit to the Yucatan region of Mexico in 2013. Apologies to Ian Dury and the Blockheads for using part of the lyrics of their hit song of 1979, "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick".
The book consists of two parts: the first contains information and practical advice on travel photography that derives mostly from my own experiences of what works and what does not. The second part of the book is a selection of my travel pictures taken between 1981 and 2016. These are grouped according to various categories and hopefully will illustrate some of the points contained in the first part of the book.
