About the Book
“RE-FRAME ISLAM” is a global independent art project by the artist Nassim Hadj benali based on the framing theory*. Unlike the media, the project thinks in a larger and positive frame. By taking studio portraits of random Muslims smiling inside mosques in the United States and later Germany and then exhibit them in public spaces, the artist moves the frame away from that negative image of Muslims that is repeatedly shown on mass media. The Smile is surely infectious; it travels from a soul to another. Plus, the human brain naturally singles out positive feelings. Our brain rather keeps an image of a smiling face than an awful criminal.
