About the Book
photographer repeatedly visiting the same locations and spending extended periods photographing his subjects since he feels that only by doing so can you really get under the skin of a place or species and reveal it in all its forms. Although photographing his ‘local patch’ is certainly his first love, over the last 15 years he has had a growing fascination with northern and eastern Europe, in particular, Finland.
This book is a showcase of Robert’s finest images taken over many autumn visits to Finnish Lapland and include a number of aurora borealis photographs. Understanding that there are many who also wish to photograph this incredible spectacle, Robert has devoted almost three pages on ‘Photographing the Northern Lights’ with invaluable tips drawn from years of experience.

About the Creator
Robert Canis is a professional photographer specialising in the natural world, based in Kent, England. A self-confessed non-globe-trotting photographer, he prefers to stay close to home since he feels that only by doing so can you really get under the skin of a place and reveal it in all it's forms. Robert does, however, occasionally travel abroad but, just like when at home, will revisit locations many times over, in all seasons. These include Finnish Lapland, Poland and the Czech Republic. He frequently lectures on photography and conservation issues throughout England and his work is marketed by three of Europe's leading image libraries, FLPA, Photoshot and Robert Harding. Robert has received numerous awards in such prestigious competitions as Wildlife Photographer of the Year, BWPA, Asferico and International Garden Photographer of the Year. He has also been awarded the Royal Photographic Society's Gold Medal.
