About the Book
My work primarily explores concepts surrounding the photographic medium and the potential it holds to alter perception. The distinctive quality the camera possesses to seize any moment in time and elevate ordinary, everyday objects is a theory that ‘Twenty Nine Photographs’ explores.
These objects have been photographed within their environments working with the ideology that the photograph detaches the subject from ‘reality’. I hope my images explore the ‘chance meeting’ of objects and how this can create a ‘dream-like’ poetry once photographed.
About Emily Woollaston commenced and is currently studying a BA (Hons) in Photography. Her practice and current work primarily explores concepts surrounding the photographic medium and the potential it holds to alter perception. She likes to focus on capturing abstract qualities in the world that may be perceived as commonplace, creating metaphorical links in her images which then result in individual narratives being created.
