John became a member of Castleford Heritage Trust in 2013 shortly after taking early retirement from Yorkshire Water where he was a second line IT support technician. Starting in 1974 as an electrician based in Wakefield one of John's early tasks was the maintenance of the anti-foam pumps at the rear of the then Allinson’s Mill. This has since been renamed Queen's Mill and is home to the Trust. After moving into the IT Section based in Bradford one of his roles involved writing web-based help scripts for the Yorkshire Water call centre , so it was a natural step to take on the management of the Trust website. As well as providing IT support John also acts as a tour guide at the Mill. John lives near Selby with his wife Sue and their two cross breed terriers Daisy and Dennis. His hobbies include cooking, walking and fly-fishing.
