About the Book
I got my start photographing musicians in and around San Diego about 15 years ago. I met so many local musicians and photographed them at Street Fairs, coffee shops and house concerts. I started photographing larger touring acts and kind of got away from shooting as many local musicians. One day I decided I wanted to work with and give something back to all of the musicians who helped me get my start in music photography and came up with the idea to photograph them all in the same chair in a studio with no other props other than their instruments. I had no idea I would eventually photograph over 150 musicians and still have not even scratched the surface of the musical talent in San Diego. These musicians come from all walks of life and play a wide variety of instruments from guitar to dulcimer. There are horn players, guitar players, singers, keyboardists, flutists, and even a musical saw player. This project allowed me to spend precious one-on-one time with these wonderful artists and get to know each of them a little better. Thank you to everyone who participated in this project. This is my little way of helping preserve the rich musical history in San Diego and its surroundings.
