About the Book
Balancing family and working life can be demanding - and challenging.
After our children were born we experimented with many different ways to juggle family and work: working from home, working part-time (juggling child care between us), drawing on family help during the week and after school care.
But whilst each solution offered benefits, managing the demands of children, school, homework, after school activities, cleaning, cooking, washing and our jobs still seemed overwhelming.
By the time our children had reached primary school we felt exhausted. We needed help, and not just child care - but all-round general family support.
It was at that point that we sought the help of our first au pair.
Our lives have been greatly enriched by all three au pairs we have come to know. We hope that, in return, we may have impacted each of their lives in a positive way too.
In this guide I’ll share personal stories of how au pairs helped me cope with the demands of small children, family and working life.
And I’ll provide support to help you understand the benefits of this family care solution, as well as hints and tips to help you find an au pair and develop a positive relationship that works for your family.
I hope this guide inspires you but, most of all, I hope it may be of some help to you, as you meet the demands of paid work and children.
With my best wishes,
Jodie
