About the Ebook
A few years ago I had the pleasure of compiling my book “Images of Italy”. In the same way this book has enabled me to showcase some more of my photographs, but in this case to present some images from a specific event that we were lucky enough to witness.
Looking through all the many shots taken during the Siena Palio in August 2009 meant that I was reminded of all the sights and sounds of that special day. Whilst it is therefore a rather self-indulgent exercise, I hope you will enjoy the photographs and that it might make you think about adding a visit to the Palio to your own “to-do” list.
This book is dedicated to our lovely friends Marco and Giovanna Matteini, who own and run the fabulous Podere Cogno near Castellina-in-Chianti, and who very generously and graciously organised our visit to the Palio.
I have always had an interest in photography and in trying to record events people and places by taking pictures with a camera. My formal training and qualifications have all been in Civil Engineering and notably transportation planning and engineering. As a chartered engineer with over 30 years experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning and highway design, I have lead teams dealing with those aspects of development projects throughout the UK and Ireland But the interest in photography could not be stifled by my work, and inevitably the desire to take photographs and to exhibit them became irresistible. Since August 2001 I have concentrated on turning my hobby, and a talent for photography, into a new career. I am proprietor of TJMServices of which tjmshots and terrymorganphotography are part. I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society. The photo "Italian Streetlife" is an exhibit in the 2009 RPS members exhibition. I am happily married to Jane.
