About the Book
We all dream and we all have thoughts these recent works by Ruth Gray are an intuitive response to those. Working from memory never a photograph the paintings are how her mind remembers events or places. Hazy recollections of walks in the rain, alpine mountains or the fear felt as a bush fire rages in the nearby township. It is the colour that represents the emotions and the texture that forms the image. Colour is laid onto the support and tissue paper or old discarded paintings are applied and the layers are built up and knocked back until the work is resolved all through the process it is the freedom to let the work dictate itself that makes each piece unique and completely unplanned.
