About the Book
Influenced by the mainstreaming of tattooing in today’s world, and being a heavily tattooed woman, I have begun to explore the genre of tattooed society. Tattoos are a personal choice to illustrate some part of oneself in indelible ink. The idea of heavily tattooed people is unsettling to most; the prejudice being that tattooed individuals are low-class or tasteless. This series is an exploration of the falsehood behind that prejudice. I am seeking to communicate that judgment should not be cast upon a persons adornments, as it is merely a form of self expression. In addition I am exploring the idea that tattoos help define the subject’s self image.
